Donny Belliveau
Has been taking care of business!


1950 - At the early age of 3, Donny began to sing tunes with the radio. He also began to sing melodies that he composed.

1953 - Voice trained by his Aunt Premilla LeBlanc, Don entered an amateur show at S.C.M. school in Shediac. At age 6, he performed the Ave Maria song by Shubert. He received a standing ovation from a cheering crowd of over two hundred people.

1954 - Don began to sing Rock & Roll with the radio and excelled in sports such as: Hockey, Baseball, and Softball.

1961 - At age 14, Don began learning piano on his own, and discovered all the MAJORS, MINOR & SEVENTH SCALES.

1963 - At age 16, Don wrote his first song on paper. He started his first Rock & Roll band with four musicians from Shediac, Roger Gallant, Jean-Robert Boudreau, Butch Gallant, and Malcolm Forgie.

1967 - Don started music courses @ N.D.A. in Moncton. (N.D.A. was the top music college in the Maritimes at the time)

1968 - Don entered Teacher's College in Moncton to pursue a Bachelor's degree in education.

1970 - Don entered University of Moncton to obtain a B.E.E. (Bachelor's in Elementary Education)

1972 - Don graduated from University with a Bachelor's Degree. He began to teach profession and entered a weekend band called The Shadows.

1975 - Don registered for extra courses in music and attained a major in music at the University. Don recorded an album with The Shadow's that consisted of songs he had written throughout the years.

1976 - Don pitched songs to publishers all over the U.S.A. by mail and received encouraging responses. Mr. Belliveau began teaching music in public schools of New Brunswick.

1978 - Don formed two other bands, Country Gold and The Jays, and then had three bands playing at various clubs and festivals.

1984 - Don received a Sabatical from the school board for one year. He was seriously considering a career change to the musical field. He began teaching his songwriting courses at the University of Moncton and formed The Moncton Songwriters Group. He also built a band made up of four songwriters called Rowdy Friends.

1985 - Don returned to teaching for another year.

1986 - Don attained two other Sabatical years to further his students in music at the University. He continued teaching songwriting at the University in the evening. Don co-wrote a song which won the Canadian Budweiser Songwriting Contest (Atlantic Region). The song called I never knew love before received an appearance on the You Can Be A Star show, on the Nashville Network (T.N.N.). This song competed against top U.S. songwriters for a record contract deal and tour.

1989 - Don approached country singer Paul Dwayne with some of his songs.

1991 - Paul Dwayne won the Canadian Budweiser Talent Hunt Contest in Calgary with a song called The Puzzle written by Donny & Ron Lusk.

1994 - Don built a 7 piece backup band for Paul Dwayne's Maritime Tour. He established roots in acting, and formed The Multicultural Theatre Of Canada.

1995 - Don Belliveau & Gary Morris (a studio owner and producer in Sussex, N.B.) made plans to open a song publishing firm, thus encouraging young Maritime artists to write and record their own songs. Don continued to write with Paul Dwayne, Gary Morris and other professional writers throughout the Maritimes.

1996 - Don decided to re-activate The Moncton Songwriter's Group. Their songs were pitched to some of Canada's top publisher's and to Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles in the U.S.

1997 - Don continued to tour with the Multicultural Theatre of Canada presenting shows throughout eastern Canada and Ontario. He also formed a 7 piece band called The GTO's.

1998 - Don left The GTO's to form a bigger band called Donny & his Rock'n'Rollers, a 9 piece band playing the music of the 50's, 60's, & 70's.

1999 - Don accepted a teaching position in Halifax as a music teacher and continued to tour during the summer and winter months with his new band called Donny & The Rockers.

2001 - The D/B Band is formed

2002 - Don records a cd with The D/B Band, which can be bought at his shows.
